Foothill Ranch Kids Foundation welcomes you to the 2012-2013 School Year!

I'd like to welcome you all back to another school year at Foothill Ranch Elementary. As the president of the Foothill Ranch Kids Foundation, I'm delighted to see familiar faces on campus and to welcome new families into our community.

We are pleased to share that this year, the Foothill Ranch Kids Foundation will privately fund the salaries of our librarian and a computer aide. In addition, we are partnering with the PTA to fund the Science Wizard Program, which offers innovative and hands-on science lessons to all of our students. The Foundation is also providing the school with academic workbooks, and paying for the technological licenses for Reading Eggs, Help Me 2 Learn and Brain Pop software.

One of the biggest strengths of the Foothill Ranch Kids Foundation is that it can quickly mobilize to respond to our school's greatest funding needs immediately as they arise. This is so important because, as you probably know, state budget cuts continue to impact our school. In the last five years, our district has made over $21.5 million in ongoing cuts. With increased class sizes and lost programs, the role of the Foothill Ranch Kids Foundation is more important than ever. If California's schools want to stay competitive, we must rely on private donations to make up the difference.

During our Direct Donation Drive, we are asking Foothill Ranch families to give a tax-deductible gift to help the Foothill Ranch Kids Foundation continue its work on behalf of our children. If each Foothill Ranch family gave $200 per child, we would raise $220,000! A gift of $200, $100 or $50 is a small financial sacrifice compared to the high cost of tuition at nearby private schools, but allows us to protect a quality education for our children.

This year, we are also pleased to announce that – if we raise at least $10,000 during our Direct Donation Drive -- an anonymous group of Foothill Ranch families have offered to give the school a $5,000 matching grant in support of the foundation's renewed focus on getting more technology into our classrooms.

Would you please make a tax-deductible gift to the Foothill Ranch Kids Foundation in the amount of $200, $100 or $50? Any dollar amount will help us get closer to our goal of raising at least $10,000. Also, anyone who makes a donation of at least $50 by October 31 will be entered in a raffle to win a family fun basket of wonderful prizes.
